Nevada desert on the way to Utah

Gateway to Utah from Arizona - Purgatory Canyon begins

This canyon is beautiful and occurs in a little corner of Arizona that we passed through on the way from Nevada to Utah.

Purgatory Canyon, Arizona

Purgatory Canyon

The Virgin River runs down through Purgatory Canyon.

Welcome to Utah sign!

Mary's brother, Bob, lives in Ivins, Utah which is just outside St.George. Our first view of the Ivins roundabout sculptures. This is in the center of the roundabout like an island. There are 5 bronze horses done by sculptor Edward Hlvaka

See Bob's photos of the roundabout here!

We arrive at Mary's brother's place in Ivins, Utah. I get to meet Bob Dugan and his wife Ann. I was hoping to get some juicy stories about Mary's childhood from Bob. I DID learn that Bob called Noella (Mary's bosom buddy when she was growinf up) and Mary, Spaghetti and Meatball. HA!

This is the view from Bob and Ann's front door. The ding-dong neighbor across the street planted the one tree that blocks the view of the canyon walls. Bummer...And that is our super duper rent car which drove us nuts! A Dodge Caliber from Wisconsin. The Wisconsin plates allowed us to get away with touristy misturns etc.!

Ann helped me get this picture of the country out their back door! She was tall enough to get up over the patio wall!

Bob gives Mary some brotherly advice on where to go. Well, I could have warned him that whenever I tell Mary where to go, she , mostly, ignores me!
